How to volunteer in Kings Park or Bold Park

If you have a passion for native plants, conservation, local heritage, learning or meeting people, becoming a volunteer offers great satisfaction and rewards.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Bold Park benefit from hundreds of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.

Many volunteer opportunities are provided through our partners at Friends of Kings Park, Friends of Bold Park, Kings Park Volunteer Guides or the Honour Avenues Group, while other opportunities are offered directly through Kings Park such as Kings Park Education and Corporate Service Volunteering.

For an overview of the Volunteer Program across Kings Park and Bold Park or to find the right opportunity for you, please contact the Volunteer Program Coordinator.

Corporate Volunteer Days of Service

The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority has events throughout the year for corporations to be involved in a "day of service" or once off volunteering.

If your company is interested in spending a day volunteering and would like more information, please contact the Volunteer Program Coordinator

Suitability

Anyone can apply to become a volunteer! We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities, and life stages, and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities. We are happy to discuss how volunteering could work for you.

Depending on the demands of the role, you may be asked to provide a ‘Fit for Work’ certificate.

Our ongoing volunteer roles are suitable for people over the age of 18 years. However, we do offer some opportunities for younger people, and some once-off opportunities suitable for all the community, including children supported by caregivers.

Timing

Most of our volunteer teams meet on weekday mornings. However, we do have some volunteer teams that operate on the weekend.

Insurance

All BGPA volunteers are given training for their role and Health and Safety guidance. Registered volunteers are insured against personal accident while undertaking official volunteering duties.

International volunteers

If you are not an Australian Citizen, you can still become a volunteer. Your visa work entitlements will be checked as part of the volunteer registration process, and you will need to have your own current health insurance.
