Event information

This 2-2.5 hour immersive workshop will explore the beautiful art of natural dyeing using native leaves of Western Australia. Under the expert guidance of Rivarossa Botanicals, you'll create your own one-of-a-kind wearable art piece by imprinting these unique botanicals onto a luxurious peace silk scarf. You'll also have the opportunity to experiment with dried flowers by eco-printing onto a hemp/linen-blend fabric bookmark, adding another layer of creativity to your experience.

As part of our exploration, you will dive into the fascinating science of natural dyeing, learning how acids and alkalines affect pH levels and influence the colours of various florals. This hands-on experience will help you understand the interplay between nature, chemistry, and art.

At the heart of this workshop is Rivarossa Botanicals' commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. They use peace silk—also known as Ahimsa silk—a cruelty-free alternative that allows the silk moth to complete its life cycle without harm, honouring both nature and craftsmanship.

Don't miss this opportunity to create with purpose, connect with nature, and take home a meaningful piece of wearable art!
