Expressions of Interest for Lightscape 2025 now open for local artists

Kings Park are seeking expressions of interest from artists, makers and fabricators to contribute to Lightscape.

Our annual trail of lights, Lightscape is running again from mid June to the end of July in 2025. The illuminated, after-dark event is around 2km long and takes visitors on a winter journey of light-based work, sculpture, installation, public art, architecture, digital and mixed media, sound, the written word, design and fabrication.

We are now seeking expressions of interest from Western Australian creatives with proven experience to contribute existing work or new ideas and concepts for the trail in 2025 and into the future. You may have an existing piece of work that integrates into the 2025 theme, or you may want to introduce yourself for consideration in future years!

Depending on your idea and the art-form you work in, we may want to discuss tailoring your work to suit specific locations on the trail OR how your work could provide “creative content” for another installation we are developing. Both of these approaches would be in close collaboration with the artist.

The 2025 trail theme is ‘Can’t Live Without You’, and will explore themes such as:

  • The symbiotic relationships that exist between plants, and between plants and animals of Western Australia
  • Caring for the land and wildlife
  • Building resilient landscapes
  • Our pollinators; animals and insects.

To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), you will need to provide a PDF document of no more than two A4 pages introducing yourself, your work and how it reflects the themes above. From the expressions, we will select up to three EOIs to develop into finished works for the 2025 trail.

Please include the following information:

  • Full name and contact details
  • Website link if you have one and/or social media links
  • A brief description of your idea, whether it is an existing work or a new concept, and what scale it is
  • Whether your work is intended to be ground based or suspended
  • Description of the work during the day and its night-time impact
  • How it responds to Kings Park’s 2025 themes
  • Visual representations e.g. photographs of previous work, concept sketches
  • Two references of previous work

EOIs should be sent in PDF format to artists@culturecreative.co.uk by Monday 16th December 2024.

Successful applicants will notified by Monday 20th January 2025.
