WA’s biggest celebration of wildflowers lands at Kings Park

Spring has sprung and the Everlasting Kings Park Festival is here to celebrate, taking place across Kings Park and Bold Park from 13-29 September 2024.

The Festival is WA’s biggest celebration of wildflowers, with events, walks, workshops, art and more taking over the Park, set to a backdrop of more than 5,800 spring blooms.

Each September locations across Western Australia become a kaleidoscope of colour as the State’s iconic wildflowers emerge, and Kings Park is no exception.

Beyond enjoying the floral displays, visitors are encouraged to get involved with the 45 different events and activities on offer, many of which are free or low-cost.

Leading the Festival’s 2024 program is new event, ‘Everlasting Ideas: Gardening for the future’. This day of inspiring conversation on the gardens of tomorrow and how we can start bringing them to life today is a free event, filled with the “TED talks” of horticulture.

Also presented in the Festival for the first time is ‘Sunsets and Stargazing’ – a unique opportunity to enjoy the cosmos in the heart of the city. Alongside our wildflowers, WA also has an unrivalled night sky, and this unique urban stargazing experience puts our starry nights on display.

Explore the Park’s flora and walking trails solo, or join a guided walk, hike, segway or bicycle tour. Immerse yourself in nature through forest bathing, yoga or tai chi. Or flex your creative muscles with watercolour painting classes or a natural dyeing workshop.

Spruce up your plot with rare plants from the much-loved Friends of Kings Park Native Plant Sale, and get personalised gardening advice from Kings Park experts at the Horticultural Help Desk.

Venture behind-the-scenes on a tour of the Kings Park glasshouses or nursery, or join the Kings Park Guides for themed walks focused on species such as Banksias and Orchids.

There’s plenty of fun for the whole family at the free Poolgarla Family Day, and kids can also take part in Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park school holiday activities, storybook sessions, crafting and more.

Aspects of Kings Park is hosting meet-and-greet sessions with local artists Jane Li and Basia Lamb, plus, the ever-popular ‘Perfect Specimens’ cut flower display returns to the store.
