Verticordia chrysantha

Golden Featherflower

Bringing sunshine yellow cheer to the native garden or a container, Verticordia chrysantha flowers prolifically with bright yellow flowers from mid spring to early summer.

A small, slow growing shrub, the Golden Featherflower can reach 1m high by 0.6m wide.  This species lends itself to smaller gardens, where planted en mass can create a stunning display amongst other natives.  It does well in raised beds, rockeries and containers, thriving in all soil types but the site should be free draining and in full sun.

Grow it at home

  • Best planted in autumn/winter in a sunny position
  • Apply slow-release native blend 8-9 month fertiliser at planting and annually as required in spring
  • Once established this species is drought-tolerant, but for optimum growth and flowering it is best watered once a week at the base of the plant, particularly during extended hot and dry periods.
  • This species responds well to pruning. To maintain well-shaped flowering plants, prune lightly each year once flowering has finished.
